Google is 10 years old - and, another blast from the past

Okay, the Google blog post is two weeks old, but you can read a little about their 10th b'day here. The reason we're bringing this up is two fold: first, the old email from Mark "Verbal" Cardenas to Karaoke Phil Fuehrer inviting him to (and into the world of) poker (posted here) was a blast from the past; second - as part of Google's celebrations they've made available their oldest remaining archive records (apparently from 2001). What does that really mean? Another blast from the past!!!

Check out Karoake Phil's 1999 web site from his run for St. Paul City Council here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20010508091536/www.users.qwest.net/~pfuehrer/City_Council_run_1999.htm

And, check out a decade younger "Verbal" here (from his days as a Rockstar - rumor has it that Nickleback's song of the same name was written largely due to Mark):

Be sure to click on Mark's name on the bottom row picture. Then notice how they butchered his name in the top header (blue) bar. The older version had the same spelling on the main page.

Wow! Old school pics. One of my favorite Bob Dylan lyrics comes to mind when checking out these photos: "I was so much older then... I'm younger than that now."

Considering all I know about Phil is that he drinks Hurricane and plays poker - I'm not 100% convinced that's even him. Or perhaps Randolph and Mortimer Duke made a one-dollar wager that they could clean Phil up - and get him into public office.
